How to accelerate technology development

(by balanced accelerating systems under a single control)

Suppose being a very advanced race, travelling trough space. At any moment you encounter a bluish planet floating in this space around a star. Approaching this planet you probably get overwhelmed by the beauty of it, all the lifeless rocks you passed on your voyage get surpassed in beauty by your sight. Attracted by it you probably accept that open invitation to come down and explore it.

After touching down you are able to explore what is on this planet, millions of species crawling, walking, flying, swimming living their lives and enjoying the habitat.

There\'s one species who seems to have reached a state of taking control of their habitat and are trying to modify it as opposed to all other species. This species, lets call them humans, use a somewhat primitive language of exchange, it\'s egocentric between human to human, tribe to tribe, state to state. The human species is not fully aware of other possibilities which are common practice to you as an advanced species.

A little sad you contemplate on the long way your species had to go to reach the current advanced state you\'re in and the comfort that brings. Of course your advancement didn\'t come cheap, a lot of sacrifice has been made but in the end it was all worth it.

Analysing, thinking, calculating brings you to the idea that you could serve this human species by advancing them more quickly than their current rate of development, a great gift as gratitude for the stay on this nice planet.

As you noticed, the human species are worshipping gods, you by yourself are not a god but it would be very hard to convey that message to the human beings if they would see what you are capable of. So you put a system in place which will not reveal your hand in it. Everything must be known as humans\' own development.

A challenge of course but at least nothing like impossible for you as an advanced race.

By realising that the only value, which can add to prosperity of this system as a whole, is human labour, either physical or mental, you found the first potential. Your species went through this state also, labour filled the needs and created prosperity, after which growth of labour and prosperity stopped growing for a while. The older members of your race are still seeing this as a big mistake.

So, now what, labour directly coupled to prosperity stops development of growth, time for something new.

If it could become clear to the human species that technology could ease their labour because it replaces some of the human effort by technology then they would prosper with less effort. So far so good, it helps human species in having a good life but... it doesn\'t provide a need to develop further so again a possible stop in growth of development.

Now you need to find a way for the human species to keep increasing their effort, thus developing technology and still live a life which isn\'t prosperous enough to lessen the effort.

In order to achieve this you are implementing something of a lubricant which will help this process, let\'s call it money. This money must represent something of value as long as it is not human labour because that\'s the real value.

Of course, over time will this money be a representative of human capabilities so there is a need to control it. As human capabilities increase you need more of this lubricant, no problem at all, it can be created out of thin air as it is just a virtual helper or lubricant.

The nice thing of it is that this money helps humans to exchange goods and labour between themselves easy and convenient, it didn\'t help technology development but it only made exchange easier for humans.

Now we have two systems in place the real human capabilities and it\'s representative. Balanced they could be beneficial for the prosperity of humans. But hey, that\'s not the goal.

So you are going to introduce a little unbalance to get things going. You introduce the concept of interest at the point of creation of the money. This makes sure that, because humans value money just as their labouring capabilities, they will compensate for money by their labour. How does it work ?

By creating money you ask to return the principal plus interest, this is an accelerating system f(x)=(1+interest)^x. Surely the necessary money isn\'t available so it can only be compensated by increase in human labour.

Now you\'ve got a little problem on your hand, human beings can only do labour 24 hours a day so at any point in time this collapses, humans would be slaves to the money and whatever they are labouring it won\'t solve.

A solution will come from humans themselves, by creating technology aiding them in doing the necessary balancing extra labour they will have a decent live and have the motivation to continue creating technology because of the necessity created by the money creation process.

A simple control, interest rate, defines the balance between human dignity/prosperity and technology development.

Now this system is in place and you leave in your spaceship, smiling a little for being able to bring advancement to primitive beings by advanced knowledge of balanced systems, because the universal balanced engine in your spaceship brought you here in the first place.
